20/09/21 - MNSP Black History Month

Dear Parents and Carers,

As part of the Midsomer Norton Schools’ Partnership ongoing commitment to promoting racial equality we would like to offer both students and parents the opportunity to join a free online conference. The South West is marking Black History Month 2021 with four amazing speakers, who will be discussing this year’s theme for Black History Month UK: ‘Proud to be’. First and foremost, author and the brother of Stephen Lawrence, The Rt Hon Stuart Lawrence will focus his attention on “Silence is not an option”.

In addition, Anton Ferdinand, brother of Rio and former professional footballer will discuss “Why we kneel”. David Olusoga OBE Historian, Writer and Presenter will cover “Black and British: Past, present and future”. Finally, June Sarpong OBE who is a Presenter and Campaigner will consider “Turning the tide: Black people in the media and the workplace”.

We are very much looking forward to celebrating Black History Month 2021 across MNSP and we hope you enjoy the conference. You can register for the event here : https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/south-westblack-history-month-conference-2021-tickets-170429613562
