Record GCSE outcomes further cementing MNSP as one of the top performing Multi Academy Trusts in England

20th August 2026

Many congratulations to all our pupils collecting GCSE results this week. You have been amazing as Year 11s across all of our schools and staff are extremely proud of all that you have achieved. MNSP wish you the very best of luck in your future endeavours and know you will do exceptionally well whatever you have chosen to do.

GCSE examination results for the Trust are up from last year overall, with some very strong increases in outcomes across all 13 secondary schools.

Overall combined scores are:

  • Grades 9-5 including English and Maths - Trust 50.1% (national 46%)
  • Grades 9-4 including English and Maths - Trust 67.8% (national 65%)
  • Attainment 8 49.5 (national 46)

Disadvantaged pupils and children with special educational needs matched or exceeded national rates by some margin again this year.

Highest performing schools for grades 9-5 English and Maths attainment:

  • Beechen Cliff - 71% (nat 46%) - incredibly impressive. (84% at grade 4+ for English and Maths).
  • Hayesfield - 67% (nat 46%) continuing a strong trend of high outcomes over many years. (81% at grade 4+ for English and Maths).
  • Norton Hill - 54% (nat 46%)  up again and confirming its strong tradition of academic outcomes(79% at grade 4+ for English and Maths).
  • St Dunstan's 51% (nat 46%) - excellent improvement again and likely one of the top schools in Somerset. (74% at grade 4+ for English and Maths).
  • Preston Academy - 49% (nat 46%) an improvement of 10% since 2025.

Almost all other schools in the Trust hit national averages with many seeing improvement, despite tougher grade boundaries in many subjects.

One particular highlight is Pyrland School in Taunton, securing 10% improvement in all measures - a clear sign of the positive impact of MNSP on pupil outcomes which have been low in the past at Pyrland.

Writhlington School also saw GCSE outcomes rise following excellent A levels results last week. Ansford Academy maintained national average outcomes, further validating its incredible Ofsted inspection grading earlier this year. Buckler’s Mead in Yeovil secured 43% of children at 5+ in English and Maths (nat 46). Somervale in Midsomer Norton, had their strongest results at grade 4 and above with 68% achieving this standard in both English and Maths. St Mark’s in Bath had another strong set of results following their excellent Ofsted and Somerset Studio School saw positive improvements too, as did Frome College in a number of key areas.

In our Special and AP schools, pupils performed better than they have ever done, with all pupils in year 11 sitting and passing GCSEs some with grade 9s. A fabulous effort from Knowle DGE in particular, with pass rates matching national for non-special schools - fabulous work from staff and pupils at this Bristol school.

CEO, Alun Williams said:

'I am really delighted that pupils have achieved so well. It’s all down to having high expectations, believing pupils can achieve well, excellent teaching and precise leadership. We have had an astoundingly strong year from outstanding results in Reception, Phonics and Year 6, with brilliant A levels and vocational qualification results and now our best GCSEs ever. I am so proud too of the special and AP schools in the Trust, who have raised their expectations of what children can achieve and seen stunning outcomes. If you needed further evidence of the power of high performing Multi Academy Trusts to make a difference to children - here it is.’
