Pyrland Secondary School, Taunton and Selwood Middle School, Frome are the latest schools to announce that on the 1st February 2026, they have joined the Midsomer Norton Schools’ Partnership Multi Academy Trust (MAT).

Approved by the Secretary of State for Education, this conversion will allow the Schools to continue to have control over their day to day operations within the support network offered by the MNSP MAT. The partnership now totals 38 schools and includes 15 middle & secondary schools, 18 primary schools and 5 Specialist/AP provisions; these schools are located in the Southwest of England and include B&NES, Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset, South Gloucestershire & Wiltshire local authorities.

Mark Lawrence, Headteacher of Pyrland School, commented "Having had the support of Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership since March 2025, we have seen huge improvements in the student experience already. I am delighted to officially be joining this highly successful multi-academy Trust and look forward to working closely with our partner schools and colleagues. Joining the family of other MNSP schools will undoubtedly benefit the wider community and provide an outstanding education for all children."

Dan Jeffries, Headteacher of Selwood Academy, commented "We are very pleased to join a highly successful multi-academy Trust and look forward to working closely with our new partner schools. Joining the family of other local MNSP schools as part of the Frome hub will undoubtedly benefit the entire community of Frome and provide an outstanding education for all children. At Selwood Academy, we believe in letting every child's light shine, and this partnership will empower us to innovate, collaborate, and inspire excellence across every classroom at Selwood and across the town."

MAT CEO and Executive Headteacher Alun Williams said: “I am extremely pleased that Selwood and Pyrland both took the decision to join the Midsomer Norton Schools’ Partnership. I really look forward to working with the staff and children at these schools, as do all those colleagues and children who are already part of the Midsomer Norton Schools’ Partnership. Additionally the joining of Selwood marks a significant change and sees MNSP extend our faith inclusivity to welcome the mixed Anglican/Methodist setting and update to our Articles of Association."
